A 1980s house gets a contemporary update by Hillam Architects

Hillam Architects were asked by their client to design an update for their 1980’s home in Perth, Australia.

Hillam Architects completed various additions and alterations to the home, however they still kept some of the original details, like the curve on the second floor, that has been covered in Blackbutt timber boards.

The second floor has also been updated with wood elements, to provide contrast to the white angular canopy framing the entry.

The outdoor space features an expansive grassy area, with swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen and covered entertaining area.

The pool has a separate hot tub area, with a built-in bench on the wall.

The view from the second floor shows the size of the backyard and pool area.

A covered balcony provides a walkway on the second floor.

The kitchen palette is boldly monochromatic.
